Oh, that was blatantly Taeshi forcing shit to return to a status quo for no reason but in universe reason is that Sandy emotionally blackmailed Mike by making "sacrifices". You could be generous and argue Mike watching his parents relationship be the way it is made him this way but we only got like 3 pages of that shit.
