>>149088026She does, they're just dumb and ineffectual reasons which hasn't prevented some people in these threads from falling for them.
Daisy is with Paulo, which means Mike can't take her up on her offer to hear him out, because this comic holds this weird view that any given person can only be close to one (1) other person at a time.
Abbey has one foot in the same limbo of having escaped from the comic's bullshit that Tess and McCain ascended to.
Mike and Sue snipped at each other a couple times, which means Sue isn't on Mike's side and he can't reach out to her as a friend - never mind that Sue has repeatedly shown concern towards Mike, and her bitching at him is super milquetoast by the standards of this comic.
And I think the comic frequently forgets Stacy and Amaya exist.
My basic complaint isn't even that hanging out with his other friends would fix Mike's problems; he could still be depressed, but when it's nothing but misery after misery it wears out the reader's ability to care. And this comic has the issue that it almost never shows it's characters happy or being friends anymore. Showing Mike and others, Mike is just the most prominent example having some fucking fun now and then is necessary to making him a sympathetic and engaging character, and establishing stakes to his personal drama. Otherwise it begs the question of why should I care if Mike or Lucy or Paulo are crying, when that's all they EVER do!
