Seems highly likely. I've seen an idea someone had where the egg man may be literally stuck in the tree, like a cat. I doubt it has any real weight to it, but the fact that you need to make it so Kris is behind the leaves and not visible anymore is an interesting choice with the major "in-between" theme the game has been poking at.
