I don't have much experience with this cause I didn't get diagnosed until 20s. Nevertheless, I get the idea that autistics tend to repel each other unless they have a strong interest in common.

This is a thread I posted recently about how there are 2 main types of high functioning autism, not just assburgers and that I am the less common type, which someone pointed out used to be called "pervasive developmental disability-not otherwise specified" before being lumped in with general autism. Maybe you are too take a look.
