This is a massive cargo cult nonsense based on the old flat design fad taken to an extreme by tertiaries who don't get design or programming.

Their old design stick out way more because you can easily identify it, the place where small resolutions matter like phones don't use this retarded black text shit because you wouldn't be able to find the app at a glance.

As for scaling for phones all they need to do is make a symmetrical version of their already existing SVG. (their current one works fine for web and print)
