I'm still here, but not a whole lot to report. I am sorry it's still taking too long, I should've gotten the bugfixing and simpler stuff out before getting distracted and trying to go for a more significant update. If SMAPI recently broke something I might have to go through, clean house, retest and do that. I wanted to get one of the big things that I've been showing off all along done, it's just really tedious and error prone and even when I do get the time I'm still not so good at sitting down and plowing through it without putzing around with other ideas and half-finished content.
Unless a car finally finishes the job and isekais me, I won't disappear. If something happens that prevents me from continuing, I'll say so and upload what I have.
But while I'm here making excuses, I do still have one old problem remaining with the spa that someone smarter than me might know how to fix.
Jas has a huge randomized dialogue block where she can talk about everyone who goes to the spa. Problem is, not everyone is always going to be there based on the mods installed and heart levels. So she'll comment even on characters who aren't present. This was always an issue, but has become much more egregious after a certain gang joined in.
Does anyone know if there's a way to address that without obscene levels of copy pasting with all the combination checks for hearts and mods? Something like segmenting each line of dialogue into its own character related block and performing a simple check on that block that will then add its lines to the big randomized block? If that makes sense. I feel like I've seen glimpses of ways to possibly do that, but with all the updates and on and off, I've gotten very rusty. It's the never ending stuff like this that gets in the way of actually making content which exhausts me, but I've nothing to blame but my patented "do first, think later" mantra.
