Pic related is id Software. Formed in 1991 after leaving their jobs at Softdisk, they went on to create some of the most beloved and legendary games that are revered to this day.
However, this could have not been the case. They could have easily stayed at Softdisk, got a steady paycheck, and make whatever it is the CEO of Softdisk thought would make a good game and a quick buck.
Fortunately, that was not the case. Why? Because the members of id Software, wanted more creative freedom.
Merriam-Webster defines art as

What did they need creative freedom for, if they weren't using their skills and creative imagination in the production of a video game?
Oh wait a minute- THEY WERE!
BECAUSE VIDEO GAMES IS ART
AND IT SHOULD BE TREATED AS ART
