He absolutely is. He made it as clear as day that Denji fucked up gigantically during the Chainsaw Man Church arc. Couldn't have made it any clearer, even if the situation itself could've been regarded as sketchy (Denji having his house burned, villains showing up to kill his family, etc.).
It's still framed as Denji's fuck-up by Fujimoto, because Denji ultimately wanted it. He needed it to happen. It's basically a parallel to P1 Katana arc where he looks at the dead bodies of Himeno and the others, and seems to actually enjoy the fact that he gets to bash the obvious bad guys. But in this case it no longer had a positive outcome unlike in P1.
