In a very simple way, yes. America's economy is mostly financial(IE most of our economy is basically a big ponzi-scheme crypto-scam). If we lose the dollar, these "assets" could go to zero(something much worse than the Great Depression). Moreover, we would lose the massive privileges of the dollar which enables us to live far beyond our means. The $1 trillion a year trade deficit is just the tip of the iceberg. Moreover, the US dollar subsidizes the entire "West". Who would go down with us.
Furthermore, America isn't even a real country. The only thing that holds this shithole together is money. America cannot go from #1 to #2. If America was poor, it wouldn't exist. Large tracts of America are majority-Mexican. Reconquista is inevitable.
Thus, America is in an existential crisis. It must block China. But it can only block China by encircling it and cutting off its markets and resources. Which is why Russia is so crucial.
