Thunderhawks have less ammo than jets that would be sent after them. Less range and speed than half of the current fighter jets in the world.
Marines suffer from the "Battletech problem" where writers fuck up the scale of warfare. In reality battletech has like 5 non light mechs per planet that humans inhabit. Space marines are lesser mechs. They couldn't hold five city blocks with a company before being surrounded.
Most buildings weight limit per step is less than a quarter of a space marine in power armor. If you want to clear a tower you gotta blow it down or send scouts in.... Thats a lot of scouts per city.
The ammunition per marine, and assuming they produce only ammunition and not repair junk while dissecting their space ships for ammo. They still don't have enough ammo to kill three million soldiers. The world has over 700 million potential soldiers. Enough guns to arm the world, and the next three generations including the infants.
Space marines are lethargic specialists that rely on being attacked to do anything decent in casualties. They suck when it comes to artillery. Imagine being Imperial guard on an apocalypse game, you have 1000 marines on their side. Half a mile of table space away you get to place five times their points cost in Deathstrike Missiles. With reinforcements every second turn of the same number of deathstrike missiles.
Then add nukes. And the fact that there's enough RPG's in the world that goes "bullet speed, like most missiles travel" as image implies.
