my favorite ex version really is kyo's running hitgrab move turning into a command grab on ex
it's really the kind of changeup a lot of ex moves should have, but the common trope really is the move juggles/extends a combo/is a slightly more invincible version of the original move
might as well make ex versions add flames to a move while adding extra hits to it
