No, but it wasn't needed. I got the "Abelard unmasks the mastermind" ending by picking the correct option.

Yes, and I think that one probably is needed.

All in all, I didn't like this quest. It basically broke down because I didn't notice the dead guy under the stairs on my first two tries. Without Abelard's scene where he watches the nobles, the final dialogue just skips to the part where you pick a noble family to blame, and it's painfully obvious since you never get the line where you say "I find...".
By the way I never found out why there wasn't a guard next to the altar, when there apparently was supposed to be.
