I was about to write something, but I just realized I'm about to write out "Mari wasn't abusive, but she was doing something abusive". Oops. Might as well write it anyways.
Mari wasn't an abusive person. The thing is that Mari decided the recital was more important, which caused her to push Sunny to do it perfectly. Sunny had to practice the same song with Mari over and over, his fingers were injured from practice, and who knows what else. Maybe he really was bad at it, or maybe Mari was overreacting. It's one of those things I wish we had definitives to rather than hints.
