The term "Kav" really rings to me as a racial slur.
Proper names for things, especially peoples, tend to have more than one syllable. This is because the names for a people or group tend to be of the form (thing)+('man') or similar qualifier. That is to say, in most languages the place comes first, and the word for a group becomes place+affix.
Slurs, in turn, very often trend toward "proper name, but reduced to one (or fewer) simple syllable so I can spit the term at people."

Of course, any competent company managing one of the world's largest, billion dollar fantasy (lmao) IPs would certainly have some form of linguist on hand to solve these issues. Surely.
