Some variation is understandable and permissible, but Silver in particular is egregious. It's a long-standing issue in the franchise that isn't contained to a single work.

I have the same issue with how Sonic himself is portrayed in the west. The old cartoons and Archie changed how Ian perceived him and now he's the official writer.
