>That's how fiction works
No no NO shut the fuck up you dense fucking retard, no. That sort of braindead excuse has ruined fictional storytelling in the 21st century, its fucking sneaky what you've done here, you handwave any writing decision as "whatever the writer wants, its their decision" NO.
If you are writing a story, it is imperative, beyond anything else, beyond world building, beyond character design and description, beyond optics or messaging, or any other aspect of any work of fiction that you maintain LOGICAL CONSISTENCY.
Any work that is trying to tell a legitimate narrative needs to ground itself within the reality of its setting, major events, minor events, even individual actions, need to make sense and need to at least be FEASABLE within their own setting. When you allow a shitty, lazy writer to just write whatever they want with the excuse "oh the writer's word is always the final say" you validate dogshit like modern Star Wars and Game of Thrones Seasons 6-8, modern capeshit movies, basically any modern IP honestly, they all are starting to suffer from this.
GREAT storytelling is defined by its believability within the rules of its own world, and the consistency of its events. Its why Lord of the Rings and old Star Wars, pre-Disney Marvel and stuff of that nature is remembered so fondly. The consistency allowed you to totally immerse yourself in the world. The highs felt earned, the lows felt deserved, and the stories and their overall arc wrote themselves on the heart of a generation that recognized their beauty but was too lazy to take the effort to apply the hard work, dedication and sheer focus and iron will it took to write a story that would stand the test of time.
Stop fucking settling for dogshit, stop making excuses for lazy retards, and start holding writers accountable. If we don't stop letting them get away with this shit, soon there won't be any talent left to write the great stories that inspired generations.
