I kind of understand the living record of humanity, but I'd as soon take the Eva route and have biological proof and let the individual humans decide what to do. Let it all end or persist as people in an imperfect world.
Allowing it to stay in this dreamlike flux is like choosing Instrumentality, understandable but flawed I think. But given no other option perhaps the lesser of two evils. Still, the Matrix/Eva option of letting each and ever person decide their future is best I feel

Thank you for the synopsis, it's nice to know the director has worked with games like this before, though I won't lie, I wish his 'answer' (to life, or the nature of humanity) was different. Makes me think of Aldia from Dark Souls "No matter how tender or exquisite, a lie will remain a lie"

The stronger question I wonder is, confronted with this question, would humanity accept it as an option, or allow their own destruction, especially given the severity of the factory world
