There's many different types of crude
For example Russia and Venezuela have cheap 'heavy crude' this is needed for diesel, you guys have access to heavy crude around Alaska that's why Trump wants to drill there.
The oil in the middle east is the light crude that's most easiest to refine and most sought after oil, there is also endless natural gas there (Qatar) and all the shipping has to go through there or around it so even if you dumped oil you'd still need the shipping routes.
In my opinion everything is going to end now that Trump blew out Iran's nuclear capabilities.
