It's interesting to me how back in the original MK era, Scorpion got sidelined as a villain or rogue in most media never really getting much attention, but his intertwined plot with Sub Zero was well known by everyone. He really didn't get much spotline until starting with Deadly Alliance to the modern era, which normally would feel odd but Scorpion's importance was always held by the fans even if not the media, so it didn't feel weird but more just like "finally".

I'd say it's gone a bit too far in humanizing him though, like he's not interesting unless he's the vengeance bent specter forever grieving his family. When he's just "Hanzo" it's like, ok whatever.
