My mother was upset about this and bugged me about it at 1 am or something. I said that by viewers like her contributing to their local PBS affilate they're doing what Trump wants (except I wasn't as clever when I said it)
I guarantee that childless cat ladies will make up the amount PBS needs, that's how the market works. If people like a service, as supposedly the vast majority of Americans do, they will spend their money on said service. It's only worked that way since before the country was founded, of course. Maybe instead of wringing your hands you should watch one of the shows PBS used to broadcast
