The only place I remember BTs on the path is the place right by mountain knot city. I just avoided them by driving close to the edge of the mountains on a path I found to avoid them every time.

In the truck though, even if the BTs catch you as long as your boosting on flat terrain you can escape them before they grab you out the truck most of the time.
