Ghostery adblocker (I think, might be some different addon) has a feature where you can upload timestamps for a specific video, to mark ads and other stuff. When other people watch the video, it automatically skips past the marked sections. It skips sponsors, but also engagement reminders and other youtube humiliation rituals. People would just use methods like this to skip around the ads.
