i stopped using spotify a while ago (i use refreezer which is a client of deezer) but i remember spotify fucking up the cracked version and xmanager would do an update then it would get fucked again then a new fix would happen. That was months ago so who knows how it is now. Try it for yourself and check. If that doesn't work there's an experimental version on xmanager as well, i remember that worked too.

I don't know how the fuck they reach into your PC and choke it like that, but it's the most obnoxious shit ever. It's not just youtube, I notice a lot of sites using this "detect ad blockers and artifically throttle load times" trick. Ghostery adblocker (I think, might be some different addon) has a feature where you can upload timestamps for a specific video, to mark ads and other stuff. When other people watch the video, it automatically skips past the marked sections. It skips sponsors, but also engagement reminders and other youtube humiliation rituals. People would just use methods like this to skip around the ads.
