Yeah, this is really the problem with the narrative. It tries to go for this whole "oh just talk it out you'll find common ground" but they already established that this is unfeasible.
It only works in the last episode because all of sudden she's willing to listen because of deus ex bullshit. I'm not a fan of miseryporn in general but Shizuka's breakdown in the original timeline felt way more real than anything after Takopii decided to kill himself, I would've much preferred a proper ending to that rather than the fake "happy ever after" they ended up in.
