I get it, haha. But making him short will make it so more can fit on screen in terms of hazards and platforming. I was actually thinking more of Jimmy "Popeye" Doyle from The French Connection, a movie I really enjoyed.

I'm glad you like the concept, it was inspired by the NES game Gumshoe. In that game you can't control your guy, it's way more difficult in that you have to shoot to make him jump to get him across large gaps while also timing the shots just right to avoid hazards and enemies, and your ammo isn't infinite so you have to keep getting balloons (from Gumshoe, not you shooting them).
The concept came from my love action movies and thrillers, too. I'd love to have these elaborate looking setpieces that make the player pause just to stare at the scenery. I knew it would be daunting, so for a while I walked away from it and focused on simpler concepts. But today helped to break up that anxiety a little bit. I CAN do something as complex as a city street, just need to plan it out and take my time. Here's some other concepts for stage 3.
