>i would like a millenial to explain their appeal
>hedi slimane
completely changed the meta of fashion at dior and set a generation wide trend of rejecting -> eventually evolving into outright ignoring the rules of men's fashion.
at first it started off as breaking the rules, it reached terminal status when it evolved into most millenials not even knowing the rules and why people wanted to break them in the first place and now we're recovering from it.
his silhouettes looked amazing and were a breath of fresh air.......
for one specific body type...
the problem with the skinny fit hedi trend was how widespread it got. hedi never intended for that. go read interviews he designed his shit for a hyper specific body type (his) because he felt like no one made clothes for guys built like him.
>reddit updoots
the online millenial denim community started off on forums, where people actually discussed things. most people were into classic repro fits but there were threads for dior and apc and such.
eventually reddit was created, then reddit's denim board was created.
updoot culture made denim all about sharing the sickest fade pics and getting the most updoots for a while. extremely skinny jeans fade the fastest and sharpest. its really that simple honestly. people were more focused on how their jeans looked in a picture laying on the floor, not on their body.
