How do you detox cyanide poisoning?

Settle a debate. I was driving with my fiance yesterday and a car almost turned onto the road in front of us which would have been a crash. I downshifted, got on the brake, put my right arm across her, and we made it through. At the last second the mexican lady saw me and got on the brakes to stop.

After, my fiance told me I was a shit driver cuz I didn't get on the horn. She told me the horn was the quickest way to inform this lady we were coming. But My reaction was to avoid her (and oncoming traffic), and keep my fiance from busting her face in the dash if there was a collision.

Who is in the right here?
