The context is an old man, presumably angry, saying "I'm going to beat the shit out of you". You don't need anything else to understand that something an 80s action hero would say is probably a piss poor translation of the original idiom.
Also, "I'm going to punch your lights out" is not a quip. It's a pretty common phrase most people have used in their lives, or at least used too. The only autistic person here is you who can not for the life of him understand the major tonal differences of each phrase.
But please, explain to me why a person mad enough to threaten another person would say something that ridiculous.
