Piggy-backing off of your comment to do my own ramble (I agree with everything you've stated), I've seen this argument before plenty of times all the way back last year, about the manga """needing""" redraws to not "catch-up", or how redraws are "filler" even though it does the literal opposite, a fact which magically keeps flying over the heads of people who argue otherwise:
It's completely baseless. It's self-explanatorily pointless. Anybody who's actually READ the fucking manga should know there was already proper expansion through shit like Orochi or Elder Centipede, The manga is LITERALLY already its own fucking thing, even more than it is an "adaptation".
Deleting and redrawing your own content regularly is COUNTERPRODUCTIVE to expansion. Murata could literally just do nothing. You know, like how GRRM is doing nothing how how the HxH anime doesn't re-animate episodes for no rhyme or reason. And hey, they're even ALLOWED to do absolutely nothing. I have no idea how this argument keeps coming back up, or how people try to twist the situation into "poor Murata is getting oppressed by external forces" when it's genuinely enough to just explain what a redraw is to disprove this.
The redraws are tanking sales even harder than a hiatus ever would. It's plain to see, just looking at the sales charts.
Because nobody wants to read a manga where you don't even know if what you're reading is going to be meaningful. And forcing people to need to read the physical volumes will have the OPPOSITE effect of making them want to purchase them.
