Let's get some facts straight
The majority of the fandom already thinks it's Dess, major youtubers and those that are associated with Toby games already associated with Dess = Knight
You're in denial if you think the true red herring isn't Dess when everyone keeps parroting even their arguments on why Dess is the Knight
Fanarts are all on DessKnight, very little on Carol or anyone else for that matter
Even then, Toby could be planning on a Masked Man reveal, when people already believe the case without even saying it outright(because let's be real, a good portion doesn't even know about Mother 3 anyway)
Dess has been mentioned ever since Chapter 1, not by name anyway but as Noelle's big sister, in 2 we have a name reveal and some more stuff about her, and 3 is when the red herring is properly set up with the musical prodigy part, with her song, the Roaring Knight wielding a bat etc

This is no longer about "subverting expectations", at this point it's crying and throwing a tantrum if things don't unfold just like how (You) want it to egostroke just a beat longer
tl;Dr stop being fags and rushing to change the narrative just because of being so desperate to being proven right
