In 2007-2008 you had the writers strike. The solution to this was to fire everybody and start hiring young inexperienced people out of college on short contracts.
In the past people worked in the business for years and developed original projects and became directors and producers.
Now no one stays long enough to learn anything before being replaced and everyone is aged 21.
Also Obama ammended the Smith-Mundt Act in 2012 which allowed or rather made it easier for the government to launch propaganda campaigns against the US population.
