Yeah, it was first used in a meme here back in 2015.

I think it got memed as a name because the head of the FTC at that time was an Indian guy named Ajit Pai and he was spearheading the charge against net neutrality, so his name was well known online. Pajeet is basically Ajit Pai but with letters/phonemes rearranged
