Christianity is fine, the problem is Protestantism that introduced all the issues you guys are talking about
Catholicism and Orthodoxy sees the old testament as just historical and sometimes inspirational (like psalms) books, Protestants due to their lack of own culture that started to love the desert dwellers, and also consider everything to be evil or devil worship
