Do (you) paint with the helmets, backpacks, and shoulders on or do you attach them on after painting?

I'm going to university this upcoming semester and living in apartments, should I do co-ed apartment living? Everyone has their own bedroom and bathrooms and I figure it will help with meeting a wider variety of people since I will be going in with no established connection to people in the Uni area.
