That's not splitting hairs, indie games just weren't a concept the way they are today (and even today we have no hard definition for them). They were just games like the rest of them and we didn't put them in a special category for which we wittingly or unwittingly lowered our standards because indies are such hard done by special snowflakes. We're obviously talking about new trends. But sure I can grant you those two old games that are only on there because they agreed to not list too many Cave games

The Ascend ability alone is a more groundbreaking idea (no more backtracking without relying to fast travel) and fun puzzle device than what you see in 99% of indie shit lol
