Thank god for that. Superstars unironically feels like a Meta Era game that came out way too late, where most Genesis fans already on moved from the Sonic franchise due to being too old or got into something else like Crash Bandicoot or Yakuza. It failing finally made Sega realize that the Sonic franchise needs to let go of the past and embrace the endless possibilities of the future.
