Indeed, another chance came in 1518, as the Orcs ventured deep into the Serpentspine to fight some Dwarfs. This was it. Derwing's best chance at success. Whoever would win the upcoming war would be sure to become the master of all of Escann.
And so, together with Marrhold, the Corintari armies marched straight to Steelhyl. The Orcs rapidly moved their reserves to the front, but alas, they were noticed and slaughtered without mercy. Over 10K of their troops, all gone in one battle.
But it was not over, for the Orcs moved all of their forces out of the Serpentspine toward Marrhold. Brandon wasn't sure why they didn't try engaging with the Corintaris, but who was he to complain? So, he let his guard down and split his forces in half, with one part busy occupying the countryside and pushing westwards, while the other besieged Steelhyl itself. Little did Derwing know, this was just as the Orcs were expecting, as they moved out of Marrhold and headed to protect their capital. It was a trap.
The Orc army was around 20K in strength; the forces in Steelhyl were nearly half. Realising the mistake he had made, Derwing ordered all of his troops to relocate to Steelhyl as fast as possible. This was the single battle that would decide the course of the war. Though the besiegers of Steelhyl doubted that the reinforcements would make it in time, they never lost hope, and at last, help had arrived. The Battle of Steelhyl had just been won. With their forces destroyed, the Orcs pleaded for mercy. The war had been won, and Corintar had just become not only the strongest power in all of Escann, but one of the great powers of Halann too.
