My thoughts:

1) I was hoping for more than 3 forms. They gave us a taste of how the forms would be useful, but outside of bigger smashing(Kong) , running fast (Zebra) and flying(Ostritch), I'm not sure how they will interact with the worlds and levels. I do remember one segment where he implied you may have to swap between forms quickly to complete a boss fight, so maybe there is more hidden tech than they showed in the direct. With that said, it would have been nice to have another form or two.

2) it's nice to see a level up/progression system in a game like this, as well as costumes that give you terrain buffs. So outside of the paegentry costumes have actual usage

3)the platforming sections looked fun, and appear to incorporate the same mechanics from the 3d world, something tells me that will be a major highlight of this game

4) boss battles looked hype

5)Diddy Kong WAS in the trailer, and it was a segment where they were riding rhinos. Hoping for more areas like this

Some disappointers were:

1) I only really saw 4 level types: Jungle, Lava, Beach, Ice. No desert area or straight up major city area was sad. Maybe they aren't revealing everything yet. Or maybe I missed something. The map appeared to go pretty deep underground, hoping for more varied terrains and areas.

2) No fighting style free-for-all multiplayer is really sad. Could you imagine this game with an online brawling mode? Maybe they tried it out but it was too crazy to balance. DK 64 had it's issues but the multiplayer in that game eas a blast, was hoping for something similar in this.

That's it for now. When I watch the direct again I may develop more thoughts. I'll definitely get it, but am maybe a little wary it won't live up to the hype.
