Dunno, but RAW, spells don't make sounds based on the spell casting section not mention any sound or noise that the casting of a spell produces side from verbal components.

But I think it's safe to say that they do make sound above a whisper, like how fire spells produce light.

I wish passive perception had a range.

Pic related, keeping dogs around to sniff out high stealth targets with their passive 50ft range makes sense compared to the guard with no wisdom and a measly +2 proficiency to perception.

But maybe that's too much texture for 5e.
