even with auto normalization it would still be nice for an end user to be able to turn someone down instead of completely off, even for reasons unrelated to quality/comfort. or make it a setting of "just balance everyone for me" and then you can click a checkbox for the "allow me to cause my own death by letting Loud Howard operate at full volume"
