I hate this field, I hate the LinkedIn monkey song-and-dance routine, and I hate wagecucking.
I'm quitting tech, unironically. That account took 3 years to make - I poured more time into that shit than most of my actual projects.

You just fucking KNOW it was darkies or women or Silicon Valley faggots (and / or trannies, or even the dreaded faggot-trannies) that came up with that shit.
Maybe it was a female faggot tranny nigger.

I'm a systems engineer 2, and my manager is a Jew that just instituted an on call schedule between me and my 2 other coworkers for 10 days rotations.
>24/7 for priority 1
>8am-8pm for priority 2
This is with no additional pay. I'm 100% remote and don't even make $75k/year. I told him I'm not going to be available 24/7 without additional pay, especially for a business that isn't a 24/7 business.

How would you handle this?

Damn. Even the end user support PC restarters get overtime for on-call. In fact, they get a minimum of 3 or 4 hours of overtime even if the issue only takes 1. It's a hospital so they are called in pretty often.

Day 4 with no energy or motivation to get any work done. I should be way ahead of where I am with this project, but I can't bring myself to do anything. I can't go to bed and wake up on time, I'm addicted to caffeine and online shopping this week (lingerie outfits for my gf), and the work isn't engaging. Outside of work, I have all the energy to lift, see friends, and side hustle. Time to switch jobs.

though if he's scamming YC startups, that would explain having a high school dropout tier career history then suddenly being founding CTO of a "notable" company

even with auto normalization it would still be nice for an end user to be able to turn someone down instead of completely off, even for reasons unrelated to quality/comfort. or make it a setting of "just balance everyone for me" and then you can click a checkbox for the "allow me to cause my own death by letting Loud Howard operate at full volume"

You can definitely locally mute the different streams. Literally all we want is an additional scaler we can adjust from 0-1 using a slider that gets multiplied with all the samples.

This is one of the easiest features in the world to implement but there isn't a single piece of professional audio conferencing software that has it. I blame agile and project managers.

honestly in most environments knives aren't exactly optimal except as weapons and you're better served by a hatchet or similar for mere "survival". even if you have a bladed implement suited to the environment, that's usually something more like a brush axe/machete and not just a "knife". knives are for cooking and stabbing, little else. and even in cooking, proper modern chef's knives are pretty bad for combat

i dont understand modern gun collectors. i could get it if you're getting historical pieces, which under even calicuck law would still be able to be operational. but most zoomer "gun collectors" just have 90 AR-15s. Why do you need so many AR-15s? They're not only modular, but they're consoomer garbage manufactured last week, there's no historical value to having any at all, and there's no tactical value to having more than one since everything that goes onto it is on quick-releases these days.

Odd laws for carrying laws in both cities, counties and states. You can have it on you but carrying it in your belt loop might get you in real trouble.

Knives are general tools for work in my regard most of us use it for terminating cables, opening boxes and a few other things. But yes for survival you would want more dedicated tools a knife and a multi-tool is better suited for the office.

Way better than the razor cutter with a shitty razor blade that always needs to be replaced. As for cutting i just use a linesman plier way nicer than my multi-tool.

Yeah well i have a dedicated crimper. Once again the razor cutting tool is garbage for both cutting and removing the rubber/plastic around the actual wires. A knife does that better and a linesman tool cuts the wire better. Also cable testers of all brands are real hit and miss when it comes to cat5 no clue why but i get more accurate readings with a fiber optic tester than i ever do with my fluke on a cat5 connection.

>Yep just like every time any boss has gotten mad for me not checking my emails it was never sent to me or he misspelled it entirely on his side so it went nowhere.

This is just bad luck on my part at this point. More reasons like last name misspelled and shift work to make it more of a pain also.

How come paperwork is so important they never bother to remind people to do it that same day via sticky note, a messenger application or another coworker. Shit man i even have changeover and could have resolved that by reminding my boss he missed me in the email chain or verifying another coworkers email to see i was missed. But since i never knew anything about the email since i never received it i am assumed to be a shit bag. If its that important that it needed to be done within 30 minutes of sending the email and you did nothing to resolve it then you are a shitty manager.

I understand where they're coming from; I read the messages as I process them, unlike some other operators. There's a lot of stuff in there that impacts your job yet you can safely ignore it until there's a crisis. No one wants to be the guy who has to go up to their boss and say "We've got new orders, and it's to do the something other than what we just spent a literal million dollars of other people's money and six months of already disgruntled people's time preparing for."

>>105941354
>if there is no written record, something written in an email or something.
where I work every message is tracked by like six different systems and every recipient (of which there are always more than you!) is required by law to retain it on top of that. I don't take the "battle secretary" job very seriously, but I take the traffic itself very seriously, as should everyone. A lot of it is junk, and I can't expect anyone to read all of it, but it has to exist and if you're in a management position you should at least skim it. At the very least, provide some control orders for what gets forwarded or shoved in your face at breakfast. Most officers can't even be expected to do that.

No clue either. Reality is companies are cheap and networking is the highest paying tier next to server administration. Clearly this mobile work which really wasn't necessary before unless we talk about building out data centers was rare to do. Working longer hours and being on shift for higher pay was the compensation for this job but if you have to fly out to these locations all the time then why bother even owning a home.

should i just start touching all the dead tech at work

it's "acountable" but no one uses it. who will truly stop me if I bring my w10 key in and just install a bunch of nonsense software for reading charts and programming radios and shit

the place is already jank and doesn't work; is there any real impetus to not impose a different sort of "jank and doesn't work" that makes it operate more like a nonfunctional terrorist cell instead of a nonfunctional nato unit? at least the documentation would be better

If its accounted for then it might be a cold storage backup. Be sure to contact whoever accounts for it, owns it and manages it. If you know all of this already then ask them for advice on setting up equipment to mess with. Everytime we set up a lab with our equipment it would be used for a few months before being broken down and installed at various locations. Good training btw much better than just books.

does it truly make me a bad person if I see some junky laptop, see that it's visually a mess but otherwise works, but the critical thing making it not issuable is missing a trace in the ethernet port and go "Well, I can just get some scrap wire and replace that one 1cm long line"? Does it make me a bad person if that's the kind of thing I want to fix? Something simple, something easy, something that other people aren't willing to do but I'll at least try.

Oh no. I mean a series of Toughpads that haven't seen the internet since they were manufactured, and a long line of shitty Optiplex towers I've already done surgery on.

Actually, stocktaking season a year or two ago, one of them was "missing"; turned out a department had it, and when I found out, they told me straight up "Oh this is 'yours'? We don't want it. Take it back. We've never used it. Turns out it doesn't work underwater."

The other two specimens are one that's supposed to run some blufor tracking software that hasn't been used in a decade (because it's at EOL from the manufacturer and ran through their servers) and the last one is a complete mystery. I want to throw OpenCPN on all of them and maybe even screw on a GPS antenna if I can get 500 bucks of not my money.

Maybe my experience is fucked up and weird, further tainted by being an otherwise fucked up and weird guy, but it seems like IT people have lost sight of the core goal. All this gear is here to make things easier. It never feels like it's gotten easier, because the IT people use it to secure their own positions, create further complication to justify their employment, and generally add undue complexity to the world. It shouldn't be this way. We are here to make things easier. We can't make people smile, but we can make them frown less. Every day we haven't done that is another day the mission has failed.

God I wish I was salary exempt I really want to burn more money on dumb shit. Not to mention i could dump even more money into paying off my house, investing, 401k and other crap.

I want a threadripper pro 9000 for no good reason, Rolex Yacht Master 116622 40mm Dark Rhodium Dial Oyster Platinum, and generally more money for household projects. I got nothing else to spend my money on but having more would be nice i could easily work 6x12's and still perform household projects/cleaning just fine.

You gotta pick a lane and stick with it. Your current certs are worthless for data/business analyst positions. Project management internship, not going to help you either. Actually a big red flag as a hiring manager, I'd assume you were lying or really stretching the truth.

Depending on your desired stack I'd look at AWS/azure data analyst certs or power bi/tableau certs. Maybe some dummy dashboards or pretty visualizations to impress the MBAs on the hiring team.

To be honest though, you're probably fine to just focus on networking and applying for entry level full time positions. What you really need is ERP/CRM/Data warehouse experience

Project management is a role where YOE/ previous deliverables are pretty much all that matter. So either the company is wildly incompetent and actually let an intern with no actual experience manage projects, or you weren't actually managing a project in any meaningful capacity and the title is phony.

Not trying to be a dick, that's just how most of the industry will see it. Maybe your resume is so impressive that it won't matter. Who knows.

Pl-300 is a good place to start.

getting married is based af. It's hilarious to see people scared of commitment just because some random bots on the internet are trying to demotivate them. Meanwhile, married chads are two steps ahead, they understand the game is rigged. There's a whole industry out there trying to break up marriages. In the West, women are practically incentivized to divorce and rape men financially.
And yet, familychads are like
>screw it, I'm tossing my hat in the ring. You know what? I'm gonna make it work. I'm gonna create the life I want. I'm gonna build a family. I'm gonna have kids. And I'm gonna fix any problems that come up with my own strength

They were tied in first place for most annoying people I had to deal with. I think they mostly did medical coding outsourced to them. They did this fucking annoying thing where some team of 20 jeets was having access issues (a single larger issue) and their manager would have them all call in separately instead of just reporting the issue as some kind of outage. There were times where they were calling so frequently about the same issue that we were immediately transferring them to management to tell them to fuck off. I fucking hate healthcare so much.

Retards keep falling for it. The director of IS at my company retired and was replaced with a jeet about 6 months ago. His first measure was to rename the department to something retarded for no reason. He also has basic IT issues every week he should be able to resolve himself. It's agony. They have no idea how to lead or manage an organization from a high level. I think they genuinely see these positions as sinecures where they made it and it's over and now they can just coast and hire their friends and shit. The amount of dysfunctional and tedious processes at my company that straight up prohibit work from being done for no good reason, untold. No one to address it since we have gay Indian execs who refuse to touch anything.
