Race horses are clearly minmaxxed so they're more likely to incur in injuries the same way NBA players tear their tendons all the time
Horses like the Ardennes breed wouldn't shatter their legs that easily of course. However horses bodies are just designed in a way that makes leg injuries pretty much fatal for them as they NEED to stay on all 4 legs
