Whew...!
Just beat Romel solo with nothing but freebie gear. Thank goodness Sanyaa is absolutely spoiled with i-frames and copious counterattack damage. Her dodge links into counter, any hit of Play Rough links into counter (which always feels great to pull off), hell- it even feels like her counter links into itself sometimes. Haven't any doubt this would've been real rough on nearly any other character (besides maybe Fiona or Achel).
Evidently, Season 4's early stock of bosses were indeed nerfed to quite a large degree since last I played... But only up to a point. Its 105-grade encounters are total pushovers now, yet everything past Tarathan - the farthest boss I had reached two years ago - is just as strong as it's always been.
What a tease to finally be able to make progress in Season 4's storyline, only to be met with an immediate brick wall as soon as I've picked-up from where I left off.
Did join a Guild, but they're pretty small compared to the megaguilds on NA, and I got put in their secondary/alt Guild rather than their primary one (for now). Hesitant to do much with 'em, since it's blatantly clear I'm more of a liability than an asset with this free gear of mine. Don't even qualify for the Quick Battle of Abyssal Arena 2 somehow, which certainly wasn't the case last I played.
What's the typical course of action for newcomers at this point? Even this crazy, pre-enchanted +12 Ardri gear feels like it's just barely letting me scrape by on a blatantly cheesy character like this one. Apparently I missed some insane event doling-out pre-enchanted/enhanced Orna gear, which majorly sucks.
With how beyond horrifying the gearing process is in Maple (to the point where buying ~$300-4,000+ pieces of equipment off the illegal gray market from other players is considered the "smart/cheap" way of gearing), I'm real hesitant to see just how bad the pay2win progression gets with this title in [current year].
