The methods aren't even contradictory.
Eliminating contradictions is done to streamline a system of thoughts/beliefs/operations/etc.
Seeing someone getting addicted to lizard brain responses is done to handle them as the lizardbrains they are.

You could do both or either. Only involving the latter directly deals with evil. Not involving the former while involving the latter can make you end up contributing to evil by accident. Just the former alone could be used by evil for the purposes of evil to streamline evil.
