The best tip I can give is to not be a perfectionist. And use the in game gpose lighting tool.

I first started gposing when someone sent me a tell asking if they could gpose me random one day when I was running around in Gridania. I wasn't sure what to make of it but I was curious and a little flattered and I was amazed at what they could do. I didn't know about posing tools and I didn't bother with shaders until then and I just ended up falling down that rabbit hole.
