The anime made a complete fool out of him. I actually went and read the web novel and went back and fourth between it and the episodes to see how the whole fight actually went. It was a little while ago so its not fresh in my mind, but what I remember was:
>A lot of Regulus' fighting/attacks against Reinhard were cut. He just stands around going "Eh!?" and getting rag-dolled repeatedly. While in the WN, hes a lot more demeaning and dismissive, going blow for blow while expressing how futile it is.
>Emilia is the complete opposite during the entire encounter. She feels completely useless and is aware there's nothing she can do.
>Regulus trashes areas of the city and slaughters random civilians he sees fleeing.
>In the WN, there's an entire sequence with a water dragon, which pops out to attack Regulus, only for Regulus' body to cleave through it while he simply stands there and ignores what's happening.
>The stupid ice skating chase doesn't happen. In the WN, Regulus has created a wall of death that's rapidly demolishing everything behind Subaru and Emilia who are desperately skating to try and outrun it.
>Regulus actually gets the better of Reinhard twice, outplays him and actually puts him down for a time.
