That's what you should ask Kondo, not me, because I have no idea what's going on in his head. Or maybe he just doesn't care anymore.
Here's his TGS interview
>4Gamer: This time, those who answered the questionnaire at the TGS venue were given a character card of one of the characters from "Kai no Kiseki" - Van, Elaine, Rean, or Agnes - as a gift, but I heard that Rean and Agnes were particularly popular.
>Kondo: There are a lot of people who like Van, but rather than "wanting goods," they think "it would be nice to have someone like this by my side," and he's like a reliable older brother, so I'm interested to hear the opinions of those who chose Van's business card.
>4Gamer: So you have the impression that he's not a typical favorite character?
>Kondo: I think Rean's popularity is partly because he's handsome, but I think it's because he's been the main character for four consecutive games, so many people have known him for a long time. Personally, when I play "Kiseki no Kiseki" and Rean appears, I get excited just by that. He's been portrayed throughout half of his life, from entering high school, graduating, becoming an instructor, and training his juniors... so he's a character who gets into a terrible experience every time, and the game ends, and then continues on to the next game (laughs).
>4Gamer: How do you analyze Agnes' popularity?
>Kondo: Agnes has been in the spotlight in many places this time, and she plays a big role in the game, so I think she's become popular. Up until now, we've been pushing her as a heroine, but she didn't become as popular as we thought she would. So I was happy to hear that she was popular this time.
