Again they allude to Shiki having experience killing prior to Arcueid... Nswhatever and Arcueid both seem to be able to detect the True Dead, and neither have said anything about Shiki in that regard, so I guess the Shiki Vampire theory is incorrect. Or maybe the craftsmanship of Shiki's glasses is so good it conceals his true undead nature?

Damn it, Nasu... Is it really so difficult for Japs to create an interesting depiction of Catholicism, or any organized western religion for that matter? In every example I can think of the church ends up being one-dimensionally evil. Like in Berserk, the Holy See is pointlessly evil - Father Mozgus tortures hundreds of devout beggars, rural priests virulently deny magic to the detriment of their people, the pope dude is a complete sycophant who bends the knee to Griffith at the first opportunity... It's infuriating!
