On the one hand, Israel seems hell-bent on annexing Gaza/West Bank and controlling the entire region.

But on the other, Israel knows it can't remain in a state of perpetual war with its neighbors, especially with Iran becoming a serious threat and American hegemony slowly fading. It seeks to normalize and improve relations with Saudi Arabia and other Arab states, but Arabs won't accept without guarantees of a two-state solution.
