No because in YGO you can actually answer the threats with cards like SPoly, Evenly Matched, Lightning Storm, DRNM, etc. etc.
In Magic the removal options aren't getting better specifically because of players (not just Commander players, although that has become the driving force more recently) whining about combo and control "not letting them play the game". Look at how many cards have inbuilt protection now, not just in obvious ways like Ward, but also subtle wording changes like triggers saying "as this creature enters" so you can't respond to the etb, or "whenever this creature leaves the battlefield" so Swords can't stop it the same way it does with "dies".
The way modern card design works is just making shit self-contained value engines because people bitch every time a good piece of instant speed interaction (most recently, Fatal Push) gets printed, and the incessant whining about "combo players" has led to making braindead cards that just can't be answered efficiently, effectively killing combo and control as archetypes in the face of overwhelming aggro/midrange. This design isn't just present in EDH with all the "do thing, draw card, ward 2" cards, but also 60-card constructed where aggro has overtaken the game because a 1-drop creature will win the game by itself if not answered quickly.
